Sony HDR-CX260V High Definition Handycam Review (2012)

by Michael

I recently tested the Sony HDR-CX260V High Definition Handycam and I was really impressed with it. So I thought I could post a review here to help you. This Sony Handycam comes with a 8.9 MP Camcorder with 30x Optical Zoom which is more than enough for many people’s video needs.

It doesn’t have a hard disk and only has a 16 GB Embedded Memory but it should be fine unless you are going to record hour long videos. And still if you run out of memory, you can copy the videos to an external hard drive even without a PC. And yeah, you will be provided with a USB cable which is built in!

The battery is good and it gives around 4-5 hours of recording time. You can preview what you are recording with a 3 inch display which is great.

Here’s what Steven feels about this camera:

“After spending hours researching about this camera, I bought it because I decided it was the best. Now I have used it for several months. I know I did the right thing.”

This camera also has the geo-tagging feature which is provided by the built-in GPS receiver & NAVTEQ maps. If you are taking video shots while moving in an automobile, the wind noise reduction technology can help you eliminate the wind blowing noise which results in a good audio clarity. A lot of cameras do not have this feature.

Here’s what Bobster feels about this Sony Camera

“Looking for a terrific camera at an affordable price? We were, and are so glad we chose this Sony product. We have owned Sony for years, but going from Mini-DV to hard drive HD camcorders has been like entering a whole new universe.”

And do you want capture in low light? No worries, the Back-illuminated Exmor CMOS sensor of Sony HDR-CX260V helps in creating low light videos with ease!

This Sony camera also comes with Optical SteadyShot image stabilization so that you get a really smooth flowing video without any jerks even when you are holding it in the hand and running while recording.
